Elementary School Students Raise $1,048 for Ovarcome in honor of OVARCOMER Margaret Robinson!

TOGETHER, We OVARCOME!

This is the story of Margaret Robinson, and of how communities come together to support and to OVARCOME.

After experiencing constant back pain, pelvic pain, and heartburn for a while, when Margaret’s stomach started distending in last October, she scheduled a visit with her OB-GYN. After several tests, Margaret underwent a complete hysterectomy and staging surgery in December of 2018 and was diagnosed with stage III-A ovarian cancer. She is the first person in her family to have been diagnosed with cancer of any form.

A teacher to pre-school children at Red Cross Elementary School in Glasgow KY, and Mom to a young son, the diagnosis came as a shock to Margaret. She didn’t think the silent and non descriptive body annoyances will eventually turn out to be an ovarian cancer diagnosis.

But Margaret is not alone in this journey – it is TOGETHER, that we Ovarcome. In an extraordinary display of love, support and solidarity, ninety students and five teachers from 5th Grade at Red Cross Elementary in Glasgow, KY organized a fundraising market in her honor.

The entire school shopped in the market and raised a whopping One thousand forty eight dollars!

Every year the school chooses a charity to receive the proceeds from the fundraiser market. This year one of their teachers, our very own Margaret, was facing a great difficulty and fighting her battle with ovarian cancer. Everyone involved agreed Mrs. Robinson should choose a charity that they could honor her through. Margaret chose OVARCOME.

5th grade teachers, Robin Davis and Jeanie Rogers organized the market in honor of Margaret. Robin said to Ovarcome…I feel that the market was a huge success!!  It is incredibly heartwarming to see our school and community come together to support each other during times of need.  We hope the donation is a great benefit to Ovarcome.”

We thank the entire school, its wonderful teachers, beautiful students, and the entire Glasgow, KY community for this amazing display of coming together to OVARCOME. Our special thanks to our Survivor & OVARCOMER, Margaret for championing Ovarcome!

Margaret said: “Just wish to take a moment to say my family is forever grateful for your great organization. God bless you for all the good you do!”

“I have to be a VOICE for this cancer. If it is not you, it is going to be someone else. Let’s give it the limelight it deserves.”

Thank You Margaret and Red Cross Elementary for your love, support, and faith. TOGETHER, We Can OVARCOME!
