Seek Peace In Your Journey To OVARCOME

Our OvarCare recipient, Gloria experienced the “C” from the B.E.A.C.H. symptoms.

B: Bloating
E: Early satiety or feeling full quickly
A: Abdominal and/or pelvic pain
C: Changes in bowel/bladder habits
H: Heightened fatigue

Gloria began experiencing unexplained changes in her bowel and bladder habits followed by unbearable pain. She was in so much pain that her Doctor agreed to do an exploratory surgery to determine the underlying cause – surgery in December 2018 revealed stage III #OvarianCancer.

Proactive about her disease management, Gloria got her genetic testing done to find out she doesn’t carry the mutation. One of her daughters was already scheduled for a hysterectomy, so she took the opportunity to have her ovaries removed by choice. Gloria’s other daughter had a cyst, so she also requested her ovaries be removed.

Gloria is grateful to her friends and family for walking this journey of OVARCOMING along with her. She experienced debilitating effects from chemotherapy – Gloria couldn’t walk on her own for the first nine months of taking chemo. She needed the assistance of a walker to walk. Currently she is in physical therapy to help her get back on her feet. While going through this difficult journey, her daughters and her sister stood by Gloria and provided love, support, rides, and meals to help her Ovarcome.
