Consult. Ask. Advocate. PLAN To Ovarcome.

This is the story of Orly Nir, our OvarCare recipient. Orly was hit by a moving truck and in a bad car accident in 2013 – since then she had experienced pain in her body. In summer of 2016, she began experiencing very sharp pain in her stomach. When it became impossible to bear, Orly made the decision to visit the ER. With no cancer history in the family, the possibility of cancer never dawned upon her. After watchful waiting for another few months, Orly was finally diagnosed with ovarian cancer with a grim diagnosis of only few days to live.

At this time Orly decided to transfer her treatment to Memorial Sloan Kettering – she is now in active treatment for recurrence. Orly discussed the real challenges of a cancer diagnosis with us. With bills piling up and transportation costs ever rising, she has had to ask people for help constantly. She is grateful to Ovarcome for giving her the support she needed at this time of her life.

Orly strong recommends always seeking second opinion. She says, “don’t stop with one doctor!”. Orly says friendships with other cancer patients has kept her going – she loves to be the Cheerleader in her Support Group and lift others up with her simple acts of kindness.

Orly is also a big Champion of Clinical Trials. Orly says, it doesn’t cost anything and it helps save someone down the road. It also benefits the patient that signs up for the trials.

Orly’s WORDS OF WISDOM:

“You are here. They are still fighting for you. I feel blessed. I am lucky. I will OVARCOME.”

We thank Orly for sharing her light. Please join us in sending Orly our love and best wishes as she continues on her journey to Ovarcome!
