Dr. Fleming is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gynecologic Oncology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Fleming completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Duke University Medical Center and fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at University of California at Los Angeles Medical Center.
Dr. Fleming believes in working closely with the patient and the referring doctor in order to provide quality care through a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach. Dr. Fleming is an expert in minimally invasive surgery, including robotic-assisted laparoscopy, for appropriate patients with cervical, endometrial, and early-stage ovarian cancers.
Apart from being a physician extraordinaire, Dr. Fleming is also Mom to three beautiful children. She is a strong supporter of Ovarcome’s mission. Pictured here wearing our stunning #OvarShine jewelry collection, we sat down with Nicole, to get to know her better. Her name Nicole is Greek in origin, and means “victory of the people”. She is definitely advancing lives and victories over cancer for her patients!
Q: What are you known for?
A: I am known for my enthusiasm, hard work, leadership…and my SHOE collection!
Q: You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
A: Vibrant Pink: I am never one to shy away from color and I like colors that pop and make people happy..including myself!
Q: What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?
A: Watching my newborn daughter laugh hysterically for the first time…priceless!
Q: What inspires your inner sparkle?
A: My family and children, my patients and their families fight with gynecologic cancers, working with amazing people at MD Anderson that are committed to making a difference in oncology care, my personal health and well being
Q: Tell us about a significant challenge you have Ovarcome? Share your 2 words of wisdom!
A: I was raised in a low/middle class family in a small town and a first generation college graduate. I had to overcome at a young age barriers to pursuing career dreams because that was not considered “normal” for someone of my background.
My 2 words of wisdom are: Be Extraordinary!
